ABOUT SKOGSHALLEN
Skogshallen is a Viking Folk Metal band from the United states or as the vikings knew it, Vinland. It is thus that Skogshallen could be considered part of the first wave of Vinlandic folk/viking metal. The first wave consists of all the current folk metal from the America's which is not a long list though it is still growing larger. The folk metal following in the California Bay Area where Skogshallen hails from is virtually non existant.
Though not all of our members are of purely Scandinavian descent the focus and overall themes of the music come from, Norse mythology and culture, Viking history and musical tradition, as well as borrowed elements from their cultural neighbors the Celts. This is music inspired by bands like Finntroll, Ensiferum, Wintersun, and many many more. The band takes an avid interest in all elements of the music, combining the best parts of metal with the best parts of folk. Skogshallen takes on influences from death and black metal, as well as melodic death and power metal.

SKOGSHALLEN'S HISTORY
Skogshallen began as a one man solo music project by the bands original founder Vidfrey. During its first incarnation it underwent numerous name changes as it's sound was not yet developed. It was in roughly 2005 when the band finally decided on Skogshallen as the name of choice.
By this point it had lost some of its former members who were not as dedicated and had drawn in some new members. Lycaon, Vidfrey's long time friend since around 2005 became the vocalist. Andor, most notably known for his work with Vidfrey in their other band River of Despair became the bassist for Skogshallen. More lineup issues occurred but finally their second Guitarist Belawulf joined right before the release of their debut album "Northern Lights". In January of 2012 Nollid Trollgrinr became their keyboardist thus completing the current lineup though there are plans to expand it as more people and instruments become available.
The band takes in compositions composed by former members as well, who don't have time to sit down and and pour over the music for hours on end. This ensures a unique compositional direction from many angles.
DRUMMER NEEDED

DRUMMER NEEDED
As of right now the band is searching for a permanent drummer. Till then we shall remain as non gigging musical entity however we will still produce our music with or without the help of a live drummer. We are quite capable music programmers with more music programs than we can shake a spiky black metal club at.
